Rangers v Celtic: Daily Record hands Scott Wright 4/10 after Ibrox scenes
Rangers winger Scott Wright had an extremely poor first half against Celtic in the Old Firm derby on April 7, being described as “anonymous” by Fraser Wilson.
In the aftermath of the 3-3 draw with Celtic at Ibrox, the journalist shared his player ratings (Daily Record, page 42, Monday 8 April) handing Wright a mere 4/10, the lowest of any player who started the game.
Philippe Clement was not impressed either, replacing the winger with Abdallah Sima during the half-time break after his return from injury recently.
Wilson’s assessment of Wright was frank: “Anonymous. Barely got past Greg Taylor once and produced nothing of note in terms of creativity before being hooked at half-time.”
Wright the wrong call as Rangers bench bails out Clement
Rangers were woeful in the opening stages of the game and changes at half-time could have gone much further than just bringing on Sima for Wright.
However, the alterations made by Clement in the second period helped the Gers get back into the contest and they could have even won it.

Sima’s introduction transformed the attack and after a James Tavernier penalty had halved Celtic’s 2-0 lead after the break, he popped up to equalise four minutes from time and spark pandemonium at Ibrox.
Fabio Silva was similarly ineffective to Wright for much of the match, and it was his replacement Rabbi Matondo who proved to be the hero late on, curling in a stunning third goal, and second equaliser, for Rangers in the 93rd minute after Adam Idah had restored Celtic’s lead.
Clement will have some tough decisions to make against Dundee on April 10, with three points sending his team top of the Scottish Premiership.
In other Rangers’ news, former midfielder Stuart McCall was baffled on BBC co-commentary by Cyriel Dessers’ disallowed goal in the second half.
