Derek McInnes could axe Emmanuel Fernandez when Rangers face Motherwell on Saturday.

The Light Blues are coming off a 2-1 win over Falkirk, looking to pick up momentum in the Scottish Premiership.

Lawrence Shankland's double was the difference against John McGlynn's side in a tense contest.

Fernandez' showing was very shaky, and McInnes could chose to go in a different direction against Alfred Johansson's side at Ibrox.

The Gers need to start winning regularly, if they are to battle Celtic and Hearts for the league title.

They are currently two points off the Jambos and five points behind their Glasgow rivals.

How Rangers could line-up vs Motherwell

Ivor Pandur is predicted to remain between the sticks against the Steelmen.

Right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic and left-back James Penrice are expected to keep their places in the side.

Fernandez has been a stalwart since joining the Light Blues, but his slack passing nearly cost the Bears on Wednesday, and he could be dropped for Ben Godfrey.

Olwethu Makhanya is expected to partner Godfrey in the centre of defence.

Nicolas Raskin looks set to stay and is likely to continue in midfield, with Tochi Chukwuani potentially replacing Cammy Devlin alongside the Belgian.

Minsu Kim is expected to continue in the number 10 role, with Findlay Curtis and Djeidi Gassama predicted to remain on the flanks.

Shankland is predicted to complete the line-up after his brace against the Bairns.

Why Djeidi Gassama is undroppable at the moment

With the Gers signing so many wingers, there was speculation about Gassama's future, but he has responded emphatically.

He was brilliant last time out, creating the most chances in the contest with four and taking the most touches in the opposition box with 10, per Fotmob data.

The Mauritanian international even helped out defensively, with one tackle, one clearance, one interception and five recoveries.

He won all six of the ground duels that he attempted, and also managed to win the only aerial duel contested.

He is simply undroppable at the minute, even with the additions that McInnes has brought to the club, so it is an easy decision to include him in the side.

Gassama needs to keep up his current form, given the competition for places, but while he does that, he should not be axed.
