Journalist blasts Rangers as club announce fourth-kit
Journalist Barry Anderson has blasted Rangers for their decision to have a fourth kit this season after the club officially launched it on Friday.
The Gers released a new black fourth strip with an announcement on Twitter, with many fans condemning the decision to release yet another new kit for the upcoming season.
And Anderson, who works for The Scotsman and Edinburgh News as a journalist blasted the club on his personal Twitter account and accused the club of just trying to make money from fans.
“Rangers launching a fourth kit,” he said. “Aside from the timing after price-fixing issue, no club needs four kits.
“Or three for that matter. Home & away is plenty. And no need for all these clubs to produce new strips every year to make money from fans. New kit every 2/3 years is plenty.”
Facts
We all love the football club and will back them to the ends of the Earth on the football pitch, but what they’ve been doing off the pitch recently is just wrong.
Firstly withholding money earned from the Champions League qualification and not spending it on new players to strengthen, then being confused that we got battered by teams we’re supposed to consider as rivals.
But now releasing a fourth kit for no reason other than to extort fans is going beyond what we could ever think and there’s simply no reason for it to happen.
Fans have reacted angrily and now the media are clearly latching on to that, which will only lead to even more criticism in the press of the club. But they’ve brought it on themselves and don’t deserve to be defended for it.
It’s wrong, especially at a time where there is a cost of living crisis, and they deserve to be criticised heavily for the decision.
