Lyall Cameron is thriving on loan at Dundee United from Rangers.

The Scottish midfielder moved to Tannadice Park in the summer until the end of the season after not being part of Derek McInnes' plans.

Under Jim Goodwin, the 24-year-old has started in the last four Scottish Premiership matches for the Tangerines, scoring two goals and providing four assists.

In Dundee United's previous fixture against St Johnstone, Cameron scored a 79th-minute equaliser in the 1-1 draw at McDiarmid Park.

The former Dundee ace made a bold decision to move to the Dark Blues' city rivals, but it's paying off.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the midfielder if he keeps shining this season.

When does Lyall Cameron's contract expire at Rangers?

Cameron has been a key player for Goodwin recently and it's good to see him get regular minutes away from the Gers.

The Light Blues signed the midfielder on a pre-contract agreement in February 2025 after showing immense potential at Dens Park.

Cameron eventually moved to Ibrox before the start of the 2025-26 campaign, with Dundee receiving £400,000 as compensation.

The Scotsman signed a four-year contract with the Glaswegian outfit, which is set to expire at the end of May 2029.

For now, the midfielder remains on the Govan side's books, and unless Dundee United decide to sign him next summer, he will be back at McInnes' disposal.

Why Rangers can forget about permanent Thelo Aasgaard transfer as struggles continue

Kris Boyd reacts to Lyall Cameron heroics after Ibrox exit

Cameron has impressed Kris Boyd with his attitude and determination after struggling at Rangers.

The midfielder initially joined Aberdeen on loan at the start of the year, and it wouldn't have been easy for him considering the animosity between the Pittodrie Stadium faithful and the Glaswegian outfit.

Now at Dundee United, the Scottish player is back playing regular football and enjoying himself.

Speaking on Go Ballistic on 19 October, Boyd said, "You might have talent, but if you're not playing football then it hinders you. You need to be playing.

"He went on loan to Aberdeen. Probably got a taste of playing regular football again. Didn't quite work out for him, came back, went to Dundee United and he's thriving. He has really kicked on. Terrific finish as well."

As things stand, there's plenty of competition for a spot in the Gers' midfield, but Cameron could force McInnes to reconsider in the coming months.
