Dundee United and Rangers have reached an agreement for Lyall Cameron to join on loan.

The midfielder has been touted for an Ibrox exit all summer, and it appears that he is set for a move after all.

There were some suggestions that he could influence Derek McInnes to keep him this season, but the former Dundee FC has yet to do that.

There are plenty of players in front of him in the pecking order, as McInnes has several options in the middle of the park.

Now, a deal has been agreed for Cameron to leave Rangers on loan, with Dundee United clear on their plan for him.

Dundee United's plan for Lyall Cameron as deal agreed

According to the Daily Record, Dundee United have agreed a deal to sign Cameron on loan, but still want another midfielder.

The Tannadice club will look to play the midfielder in a more attacking role than he's currently used to, though they are still after another defensive operator in the middle of the park before Thursday's deadline.

The Gers never really used Cameron as an attacking player, which he excelled at in the past for Dundee FC.

The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Aberdeen, where he made 17 appearances in total.

However, this controversial move to Dundee FC could be make or break for his future at Rangers.

Why Rangers still see Cameron in their future

Rangers signed Cameron for free last summer after his deal with Dundee FC expired.

They could have made a quick profit by selling him this window, but have instead decided to loan him out.

He is contracted to the Bears until the summer of 2029, which shows that they aren't giving up on the midfielder just yet.
