Robby McCrorie transfer request decision made at Rangers in new update

Rangers kept a January transfer request from Robby McCrorie “under wraps” with the goalkeeper looking set to leave Ibrox this summer, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported on their website that having given zero minutes of league game-time by Michael Beale or Philippe Clement last season, the 26-year-old stopper asked to leave in the last transfer window.

Clement held off on the request given the fight for silverware at the time, and McCrorie has now rejected the offer of a new contract at Ibrox.

The request has now continued to the summer, with an exit now looking likely for all parties.

Robby McCrorie seems certain to leave Rangers

Rangers’ goalkeeping stocks will face changes aplenty this summer, and despite McCrorie having previously had a transfer request kept under wraps, the 26-year-old looks certain to be one of the players heading for an exit.

The imminent arrival of Motherwell shot-stopper Liam Kelly on a free transfer adds another obstacle in McCrorie’s path to the starting XI, even with the retirement of Jon McLaughlin [Sky Sports].

An alleged transfer battle between the Gers and Aberdeen – the club McCrorie could join – for Stojan Lekovic could displace him even further in the pecking order if the Serbian chooses Ibrox [Fussball Europa].

That transfer, however, would hinge on the future of Jack Butland between the Rangers sticks. The former England man’s form this season, keeping 18 clean sheets, saw him exclusively start under Clement and almost earn an international recall, and the club will likely do all they can to keep him.

As McCrorie looks for more game time, there are far too many variables hanging over his chances of achieving that at Rangers, and should a move to Aberdeen – where his twin brother Ross had a successful spell – come to fruition, it may be the best result for all three parties.
