‘Magnificent’ – Rory Hamilton goes wild after Alfredo Morelos Rangers goal

BT Sport commentator Rory Hamilton branded Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos as ‘magnificent’ after his goal against Dortmund in the Europa League.

Rangers started the game well but allowed Dortmund to build pressure until the 37th minute when they were handed a penalty out of the blue for handball. James Tavernier slotted it home, before Morelos made it 2-0 just minutes later with a tap in.

It was his 28th goal in Europe for the Bears, extending his record as the best scorer in Rangers history on the continent and Hamilton and Alex Rae couldn’t control his joy when the ball went in on BT Sport commentary.

“Miraculous. Magnificent. Masterful. Morelos. They cannot believe how this is going. Rangers have a 2-0 lead away to Borussia Dortmund,” Hamilton said.

“All about the delivery,” co-commentator Alex Rae added. “Aribo gets the flick on and Morelos won’t have an easier finish. Takes his tally to 28 in Europe, the record breaker.”

El Bufalo

The Colombian striker has been in excellent form for the Light Blues ever since Giovanni van Bronckhorst arrived at the club in November and has continued that in this game.

His hold up play has been good against the centre-backs, he has drifted into wide areas to stretch the defence and he showed his natural poaching instinct for the goal.

Rangers

Rangers performed really well in the opening 45 minutes of the game and fully deserved their lead, with Morelos showing once again how important he is to this team.

GvB has found a way to reignite the fire in El Buffalo’s belly and it could be the best thing he does as Rangers manager.

Morelos is good enough to fire Rangers to success in the race for the Scottish Premiership title and take them deep into the Europa League, as he showed tonight.
