Why Vanja Dragojevic to Rangers looks closer than ever after official FK Partizan decision
Rangers' move for Serbian midfielder Vanja Dragojevic appears to have just taken a positive turn.
The Partizan Belgrade star has emerged as a target for Derek McInnes over the last few days.
It has been reported that the Bears made an initial offer for the 20-year-old, but the Serbian outfit is still holding out for more.
However, all signs may now point to a deal being concluded in the coming days after the latest involving Dragojevic.
A hint over the future of the Serb has emerged as Partizan Belgrade continues their pre-season preparations.
Partizan are playing Azerbaijani side Neftci in Slovenia on Monday in a game that will now hold interest for fans of the Gers.
Why Vanja Dragojevic transfer may be inching closer now
A move for Dragojevic appears to just be a matter of time now amid Partizan's latest decision.
As the Serbian side took on Neftci, the whereabouts of the Rangers transfer target has caused quite a stir.
According to Serbian outlet Sportske, Dragojevic has not been named in the starting squad, nor has he made the substitutes' bench.
Instead, the midfielder has been completely left out of the action amid uncertainty over his future.
The media organisation insists that this decision "can only mean one thing", with Rangers listed as one of the interested parties.
For Rangers, they certainly will be delighted that Dragojevic has no involvement in the fixture.
Partizan has placed Dragojevic on a "special regime", and that fact has now come to the fore with this latest confirmation.
There will now be no concerns that their midfield target could pick up an injury and threaten any potential move.
The key detail that means Dragojevic hits the ground running at Ibrox
While getting players through the door early in a transfer window is ideal so they can get a solid pre-season under their belt, McInnes won't have to worry about that
Partizan's pre-season has already been in full-swing for quite some time and has already played two friendlies before this third game against Neftci.
The Rangers target started in both of those two aforementioned games, which took place on 29 June and 2 July.
So, his fitness should be up to speed should he link up with the Glasgow side for their upcoming pre-season games.
As things stand, there is little separating Rangers and Partizan in their valuations.
Rangers offered £3.8million to sign the midfielder, but Partizan want an extra £1m of add-ons included.
