Rangers and fierce rivals Celtic were regularly linked with Oskar Fallenius during the summer transfer window.

For one reason or another, a move to Glasgow did not materialise prior to the window closing for business last week.

Fallenius instead remains at Djurgardens IF, where he has spent the past three years.

There has been talk of Rangers landing Fallenius on the cheap in January, with his contract set to expire at the end of this year.

That would of course be a blow for Djurgardens, as they would miss out on any payment, while it is also a blow for another club.

That is amid a new update emerging on the winger out of Denmark.

Brondby miss out on payday as Rangers transfer doesn't happen

Fallenius joined Djurgardens from Brondby in 2023 and has certainly impressed.

The 24-year-old has two goals and three assists in 16 appearances in all competitions for his club this season.

As per Danish outlet Campo, 11-time domestic title winners Brondby have a 15 per cent sell-on clause for Fallenius.

That would have meant them landing a payout had the former Sweden Under-19s international moved clubs.

As it is, though, he will now likely leave for nothing in a matter of months.

This is a development that is said to have left Brondby unhappy, as they wanted a slice of the pie.

But how much exactly could Rangers - or indeed Old Firm foes Celtic - landed the attacking player for?

How much would Rangers have had to pay for Oskar Fallenius?

Given Fallenius' contract situation, he was available for relatively cheap in the summer.

Ibrox News was exclusively told Fallenius could be available for below £500,000.

That is pennies in the current market, especially when the Gers are paying close to £10million on a previously unknown player from MLS.

Fallenius is now set to be available for nothing, but it is surely a case of Rangers not being interested if they passed up the chance to sign him in the summer.
