Rangers told what it would take to sign Oskar Fallenius as 'overhaul' points to exit - Sources

Rangers may be able to sign Djurgarden winger Oskar Fallenius for a cut-price deal.

The Bears have been linked with the 24-year-old, whose contract expires with the Swedish club at the end of the year.

It's no secret that Derek McInnes wants more wide men at Ibrox, with PSV's Couhaib Driouech high up on their wishlist.

It's not known if the Bears would like just one winger or several, with more exits expected before the end of the window.

The likes of Djeidi Gassama and Ross McCausland could both leave the Govan side, which may free up space for further attacking reinforcements.

Fallenius is someone who Rangers have already done their homework on, and a steal could be right in front of Andrew Cavenagh's nose.

Rangers have been mooted to beat Celtic for Fallenius, who has been of interest to the Bears from the early stages of the transfer window.

Now could be the time for McInnes and Co. to sanction a move.

While exclusively speaking to Ibrox News, Swedish journalist Peder Nystrom, who has previously contributed for the Sunderland Echo and Hartlepool Mail, discussed the potential of Fallenius joining the Bears.

The Djurgarden expert said: "If a summer move were to materialise, I'd be surprised if the fee exceeded £500,000, as his contract expires at the end of the year. Somewhere in the region of £400k to £500k sounds realistic.

"Djurgaerden's previous sporting director expressed interest in extending Fallenius' contract.

"But I believe that situation has changed following a recent overhaul of the club's sporting management and a new direction in transfer strategy.

"Because of their recent transfer activity, Djurgarden are likely in the market to offload some wingers. A system that values pressing and quick transitions could suit him well."

What would Rangers get if they signed Fallenius?

The Gers have already added Daisuke Yokota to their squad, while Driouech could soon follow the former as the next winger to come to Ibrox.

But after that, further depth may be required, especially if others leave

Nystrom has called Fallenius a "rapid" winger with an "immense" work rate, also stating that the Swede is comfortable on either flank.

Though he did suggest that end product is sometimes an issue, but not for a lack of effort.

Rangers could get themselves a steal at less than £500,000, it's just about whether they have already moved on to other targets or not.
