When Nicolas Raskin is due back at Auchenhowie as Rangers transfer expectancy shared

Nicolas Raskin will not be involved for Rangers' start to the season.

The Bears kick their 2026-27 campaign off against Dundee United on Friday, with Derek McInnes readying his side to travel to Tannadice.

The Gers rounded off a productive pre-season with a 0-0 draw against West Ham on Sunday, with clear improvements still needed.

Some players are still set to leave Ibrox, with Raskin's future up in the air after his impressive World Cup campaign with Belgium.

The midfielder has been linked to multiple Italian, English and even Spanish clubs this window, and a decision on his future will soon be made.

Raskin is set to return to Auchenhowie soon; however, he will not be used by McInnes in the game against Dundee United.

Ibrox News understands that Raskin is very likely to leave Rangers this summer, though the club he will join is yet to become clear.

Andrew Cavenagh and Co. will have been delighted to see the 25-year-old shine at this year's World Cup, where he played a big part in helping his nation to the quarter-final of the tournament.

Raskin picked up two assists on the grandest stage of them all, and has surely added an extra couple of million onto his value for interested clubs to pay this summer.

Speaking on the Rangers Review's podcast on Monday, journalist Joshua Barrie revealed when the Belgium international is due back at Auchenhowie.

Barrie said: "Raskin is coming back to train this week, but won't be involved over the next couple of weeks.

"As we have said, we expect him to go, but it's just about getting the right offer in."

It's highly likely that this decision has been made to keep the player fit ahead of any possible medicals needed for his departure, as playing would only risk the chance of him getting injured.

McInnes has already admitted that Rangers will make more signings, and the money they could get from Raskin's sale could be a game-changer.

The two options Rangers have after potential Raskin sale

Rangers will have big money to spend if they sell Raskin, there's no doubt about that, but who they use the funds for is another question.

The Gers have been very keen on signing Tromso's Jens Hjerto-Dahl, and could need Raskin's sale to go through to up their last offer of £5.4million.

McInnes is also interested in being reunited with Lewis Ferguson, though the Light Blues acknowledge a deal will be hard to do with Bologna, which is why extra funds are required.

Either way, Rangers will be able to have a bit of fun if Raskin is sold, which seems to be a matter of when, not if.
