The Scotland international is certainly an ambitious target for the Glaswegian outfit, but it remains to be seen how his situation unfolds.

Cammy Bell doesn't feel the Gers have a realistic chance of signing Ferguson as things stand.

The former goalkeeper believes the Scottish midfielder's transfer is out of reach at Ibrox for now.

While the Bologna star would surely command a hefty fee, the Light Blues could potentially offset the cost after a significant sale.

Ibrox News have recently covered reports of Raskin attracting interest from LaLiga, with Real Betis and Villarreal keeping an eye on him.

Andrew Cavenagh is looking to get more than £20million from the Belgian star's sale, which could possibly give them the finances to pursue someone like Ferguson.

Speaking on BBC's Scottish Football Podcast on 22 July, Bell said: "I think all Rangers fans would absolutely love to have him at the club, but in a realistic manner I think it's probably just out of Rangers' reach at the moment.

"It depends on what happens with Raskin. Does he stay at the club? Do they get that big transfer fee for him? And can some of that offset bringing in a Ferguson? Time will tell.

"I think it would be a brilliant signing for Rangers if they could make it happen. But I just think at this moment, it's slightly out of their reach."

What Ibrox transfer business says about Ferguson hope

Rangers are expected to officially announce the arrival of Vanja Dragojevic soon as their seventh summer signing.

Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin have already been signed to reinforce the engine room before the Serbian midfielder's arrival from Partizan.

Tromso prospect Jens Hjerto-Dahl has also been heavily linked with the Glaswegian outfit.

The Light Blues have made plenty of additions to their midfield already and the Norway Under-21 international would represent their fourth signing this summer in that position.

It doesn't look like the Govan side believe they can sign Ferguson as they look at other options.
