Rangers to make quickfire eighth signing after Vanja Dragojevic as Derek McInnes speaks out

Published on

Derek McInnes is eager for Rangers to keep their transfer momentum going with two more signings over the next week.

The Gers have already brought in six new faces since last season's hugely disappointing campaign.

Lawrence Shankland's free arrival set the tone, with Ivor Pandur, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey, Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin following.

With Dragojevic on the verge of becoming signing number seven of the summer, an eighth could also arrive before Wednesday.

That comes amid some fresh comments made by McInnes during the Gers' pre-season campaign in Spain.

Rangers played out a 2-2 draw with Asian side Johor Darul Ta'zim in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Thursday.

That game was not about the result but rather the players getting some minutes under the belt in the Spanish heat.

McInnes spoke to reporters after the game and was inevitably asked for an update on transfers.

Speaking to Rangers TV, McInnes said: "The club have done brilliant work at this moment in time to try and bring in the additions that we clearly needed from last season.

"We want to make sure we are a more rounded squad and we are ready. The work will be ongoing and we are still looking to try and get a couple of things done ahead of the St-Etienne game on Wednesday."

Not too much reading between the lines needs to be done to come to the conclusion two deals could be imminent, but who will be following Dragojevic?

Is Jens Hjerto-Dahl to Rangers deal really dead?

There have been contrasting reports regarding Rangers' pursuit of Tromso's Jens Hjerto-Dahl over the past 24 hours.

It was suggested in Norway that Rangers chiefs were flying out to Tromso to push through a deal.

This came after Cardiff City were said to have advanced in talks, with both sides having had one bid rejected.

However, it has since been suggested the Gers have accepted their hopes of landing the youngster are fading.

Even it is not Hjerto-Dahl, Rangers may well have yet another new face - on top of the Dragojevic deal - to come in the next five days.
