How Rangers could yet pull off transfer hijack for Jens Hjerto-Dahl as flight records emerge

Rangers' pursuit of Jens Hjerto-Dahl may not be dead and buried just yet.

Ibrox News has extensively covered updates in Rangers' pursuit of Hjerto-Dahl over the past week.

At one point it looked like the Gers were the clear favourites to land the 20-year-old, but that has since changed.

Cardiff City are reported to have had a £5.5million bid rejected, with that competition from elsewhere hardly helping Rangers.

It then emerged on Thursday that Cardiff are advancing in talks to reach an agreement with Tromso.

However, it appears Rangers may well be ready to hijack any deal Cardiff are planning to strike for Hjerto-Dahl.

Rangers officials fly to Norway to strike Jens Hjerto-Dahl deal

Rangers are closing in on the signing of Vanja Dragojevic which, alongside the Cardiff City update, seemed to put an end to the Hjerto-Dahl pursuit.

Not so. Norwegian outlet Nordlys reported on Thursday afternoon that Rangers are ready to lodge an improved offer of their own.

Furthermore, Rangers officials are said to be flying into Tromso on Thursday to thrash out terms.

Records shared via Flight Radar back up that there is a flight due to fly from Glasgow to Tromso on Thursday.

It is another twist in the saga for the Norway Under-21s international, who is attracting a massive transfer fee despite his relative lack of experience.

How high could Hjerto-Dahl fee rise?

Given a £5.5m bid has already been rejected for Hjerto-Dahl, Tromso are clearly not messing around.

A figure of £8.5m was previously bandied about, which would surely blow the Welsh side out of the water.

The question, though, is how high would Rangers be willing to go for a player hailed a "future leader" by ex-Norway Under-18s boss Luis Pimenta.

Rangers are set to pay over the £4m for Dragojevic, but it must be remembered that Nicolas Raskin is set to leave for a huge sum.

The Light Blues are only spending what they think they'll bring in at this point, so if Hjerto-Dahl is indeed a top target, they really should go all out.
