Rangers to wash their hands of Nasser Djiga as Wolves make Rob Edwards promise

Nasser Djiga may be looking forward to ending his stint at Rangers earlier than expected after joining on loan from Wolves.

The Premier League club signed the Burkina Faso international for £10million from Red Star Belgrade in January 2025 before moving to Govan in the summer.

Djiga has arguably been a disastrous signing at Ibrox, with many fans considering the centre-back not good enough to play for the Light Blues.

While John Souttar and Derek Cornelius’ futures are uncertain, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Glaswegian outfit cut their losses with the 22-year-old defender earlier than expected.

Wolves to strengthen squad for Rob Edwards, Nasser Djiga may be recalled from Rangers

Rob Edwards will be backed by Wolves in the winter transfer window after replacing Vitor Pereira, according to The Telegraph.

The news outlet reports on 12 November that the former Middlesbrough boss will have funds to spend at Molineux, as the Premier League outfit look to strengthen their squad.

While Djiga hasn’t set the world alight at Ibrox, Wolves may look to bolster their defence after conceding 25 goals in 11 league games this season.

Edwards is tasked with avoiding relegation in WV1, with his new team currently bottom of the Premier League table with two points.

The Glaswegian outfit have been urged to terminate Djiga’s loan at Ibrox, but they may not need to, as Wolves could potentially recall him to aid their survival hopes.

Having spent a significant sum on the centre-back, the hierarchy at the English outfit will hope Edwards can make use of him.

Kevin Thelwell to rectify another Ibrox blunder in January

Kevin Thelwell has come under heavy criticism at Ibrox, and while Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises continue to back him, he needs to learn from his mistakes in Govan.

Rangers fans already want to see the back of the sporting director, but further recruitment errors in the winter transfer window will leave his position untenable under the American ownership.

The Ibrox faithful were baffled to see £8m being spent on Youssef Chermiti in the summer, and their worst fears have been realised as the 21-year-old centre-forward struggles to live up to expectations.

Bojan Miovski has also failed to be a reliable outlet for the Glaswegian outfit up front, and that’s another position, along with the defence, that Thelwell must make changes in.
