Rangers eye centre-back spot with Derek Cornelius and John Souttar futures up in the air
Rangers are continuing to review their centre-back position amid uncertainty over their current crop of options.
Under Russell Martin the Light Blues brought in Nasser Djiga and Derek Cornelius from Wolves and Marseille respectively, and hold a permanent option on the latter.
Cornelius joined Rangers after a deal to bring Nobel Mendy to Ibrox fell through over complications in his medical.
John Souttar remains the senior man in the centre of defence after the departures of Leon Balogun and Robin Propper, but the Scotland international’s own contract in Glasgow is due to expire at the end of the season.

Rangers yet to decide on permanent deal for Cornelius
According to an update from the Daily Record ahead of the January transfer window the Rangers recruitment department are “continuing to monitor” the situation with their centre-backs.
With all three senior options’ futures at Ibrox unclear beyond next summer the group appears ripe for further changes.
But despite having the option on Cornelius the club reportedly still haven’t made any decision on whether they will do so.

Clinton Nsiala has vanished without a trace
Danny Rohl badly needs some stability at the back if he is going to make anything of this season’s rescue job, or break the cycle of hiring and firing at Ibrox longer term.
The German is hardly the first in that situation when a combination of injury, inconsistency or lack of physicality have dogged the likes of Balogun, Connor Goldson, Propper and Souttar season after season.
Djiga is young but hasn’t shown much to suggest he is the answer, while Cornelius has a better record in the side this term than most.
Meanwhile Clinton Nsiala appears to have seen any and all progress he made after the New Year last season disappear, having belatedly broken into the line up under Philippe Clement.
The former AC Milan defender got a decent run of games despite the arrival of Barry Ferguson before losing his place late on, and after Nsiala’s presumed Rangers exit in the summer fell through he hasn’t got a sniff since being frozen out by Martin.
