Nico Raskin told events at Rangers could cost him for Belgium
Rangers had a busy transfer window, signing 13 players and dealing with controversy all throughout the summer.
Nico Raskin’s failed Rangers exit was a huge talking point amongst Rangers fans, with many people at the club wanting him to stay at Ibrox.
Crystal Palace and Wolves were interested in Raskin, but the whole affair culminated in the 24-year-old midfielder staying put.
Reports suggest Raskin and Russell Martin have fallen out, with the two expected to try to resolve their differences once the former is back from his international duty with Belgium.
However, the drama involving Martin could potentially cost Raskin when it comes to playing for Belgium.

Nico Raskin’s Rangers saga could prove damaging to his starting spot for Belgium
In an article written by Le Soir, former Belgium footballer Philippe Albert has spoke about how Raskin’s lack of game time at a club level may jeopardise his chances of starting for his country.
Albert said: “The composition of the midfield line is in doubt only in one position: the No. 6. To play the role of a vacuum cleaner behind this duo, Rudi Garcia will have the choice between Raskin and Tielemans.”
“Based on what he has shown since his first selection in the play-offs against Ukraine last March, notably by making his mark at defensive midfield, Raskin deserves to stay in his place but he risks paying for his situation at Rangers.”
“Garcia could obviously choose to maintain his confidence in him to send him a strong signal but his lack of rhythm could benefit Tielemans, who is far from lacking it at Aston Villa.”
Raskin has four caps for Belgium, and is yet to score a goal for his country.
His impressive form at Ibrox has earned him the chance to be involved with the squad, as he has enjoyed three brilliant seasons at Rangers.

- 2023/24: Raskin registers two goal contributions
- 2024/25: Raskin registers 16 goal contributions
- 2025/26 Raskin registers two goal contributions
Raskin’s situation at Rangers has unfortunately put a dark cloud over his head, and that is why manager Garcia could favour the more experienced Tielemans.
During the international break, Belgium face Liechtenstein and Kazakhstan in their World Cup qualifiers.

Nico Raskin’s return to Ibrox must spark a change in Rangers’ fortunes
Russell Martin is under severe pressure as Rangers manager, having only taken charge in the summer.
Winless in their four Scottish Premiership games, Rangers must hope that Raskin and Martin can sort out their differences for the benefit of the team.
Rangers will be competing in three different competitions, with a good start in the league phase of the Europa League pivotal for Martin.
Raskin will need to return to Ibrox with a point to prove, with Martin now depending on the player to help reverse his fortunes.
