Ridvan Yilmaz representatives make last-gasp Rangers exit decision

Ridvan Yilmaz is now set to stay at Rangers despite recent links with an Ibrox exit, according to the Daily Record.

The Scottish outlet reported via their website (3 February) that after getting in touch with the Turkish international’s representatives, the left-back is now “happy” to stay in Glasgow.

The defender has been linked with a return to his former club Besiktas but it seems that he’s now set to stay in Govan.

Rangers keeping Ridvan Yilmaz is good news

While there have been times in the 2024/25 season when Yilmaz has frustrated fans when on the pitch, it feels like losing him at this stage in the window would be silly.

The Gers have already had defensive problems this season due to injury with the Turkey international having to play out of position at right-back on numerous occasions.

There’s obviously plenty of room for improvement in the defender but at the moment, it feels like the 24-year-old is the best option Philippe Clement has to help provide cover.

Because, if his exit was sanctioned before the deadline on 3 February then the Ibrox outfit would have very little time to try and source a solid enough replacement.

Only time will tell what the summer transfer window could have in store for the future of Yilmaz but for now at least, he seems set to play an important role in Clement’s team.
