Yilmaz exit: Euro club ‘most interested’ in last-gasp transfer for Rangers ace

Besiktas are most interested in Rangers ace Ridvan Yilmaz in the final hours of the winter transfer window, according to Gokmen Ozcan.

The Fanatik journalist has revealed that the defender is a top target for the Turkish outfit ahead of the 3 February deadline.

As for the 23-year-old left-back, he’s open about returning to Istanbul in the coming days.

Speaking on Asist Analiz (1 February), Ozcan said: “Yılmaz is the player that Besiktas is most interested in for the left-back position at the moment. Yılmaz is also positive about returning to Besiktas.”

Besiktas plan late Ridvan Yilmaz transfer from Rangers

It’s hard to envision the Light Blues parting ways with Yilmaz so close to deadline day unless they have a replacement up their sleeve.

The defender has been a key member of the squad in recent weeks and has showcased his versatility in recent matches amid the Gers’ injury crisis.

While the 23-year-old might not be the first name on the team sheet for Philippe Clement, it’s clearly evident that the Belgian manager realises his importance.

Rangers have used the Turkish ace at right-back and on the left-hand side of the attack, with left-back being his natural position.

James Tavernier and Jefte look to be the first-choice in the backline for Clement at the moment, but Yilmaz could step in next summer in case either is sold.

The Light Blues would evidently be wise not to sell the 23-year-old mid-season, and any offers for him should be assessed at the end of the campaign.

Will Besiktas get their wish so close to the winter window commencing? Only time will tell.
