Philippe Clement settles as late new Rangers transfer update drops

Rangers are unlikely to sign a new player on deadline day in the winter transfer window, Keith Jackson says.

The Daily Record journalist revealed that Philippe Clement may have to make do with the players at his disposal for the rest of the season.

Jackson believes the Light Blues have settled for second place in the Scottish Premiership and will not sign any new players in the coming hours.

The journalist wrote in the Daily Record (3 February): “Clement already seems to be as safe as houses in any case.

“Rangers appear to have settled for another second prize this season, and the manager will just have to make do with whatever he’s got.”

Rangers transfer business done for winter transfer window

Rafael Fernandes has been the only player to come through the doors at Ibrox in the winter window, and it doesn’t look like another star will arrive on the 3 February deadline.

The Bears have sent several players out on loan, with the most significant of those exits being Rabbi Matondo and Kieran Dowell.

Clement has had to deal with an injury crisis at the back over the last few weeks, but with the return of James Tavernier and John Souttar, some fears have been alleviated.

Rangers are 10 points behind Celtic in the league table, and pipping their Old Firm rivals to the title is evidently not in their hands.

The Light Blues are still alive in the Europa League and Scottish Cup, though, making a potential decision not to bolster the squad worrying.

While it’s evidently not easy to make new signings in the winter window, the Ibrox faithful will want to see some business done in the final hours.

It remains to be seen what Nils Koppen has up his sleeves for the Bears.

In other Rangers news, a transfer decision on Cyriel Dessers is now clear after what Hamza Igamane did against Ross County.
