Anselmino agrees Chelsea exit amid Rangers transfer news – Fabrizio Romano

Rangers transfer target Aaron Anselmino has frustratingly agreed to a loan move to Marseille.

The clock is ticking for the Gers if they are to make any further additions to their side before the winter window slams shut on Monday (3 February).

The only signing that has been completed at Ibrox so far is a temporary switch for Lille defender Rafael Fernandes.

With that being said, Philippe Clement may be keen to add another defender to his squad but has been dealt a fresh blow with little time remaining until deadline day.

Rangers target Aaron Anselmino agrees to Chelsea exit

The Light Blues made a late approach to sign the 19-year-old who returned to Stamford Bridge from Boca Juniors in January.

Enquiries about the availability of the Argentine defender have been made in Govan with English Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday also interested [The Sun on Sunday].

The Premier League side are willing to loan out the defender before the 3 February deadline with his destination now likely to be France.

Fabrizio Romano reported on 2 February that Marseille have agreed terms with Anselmino over a loan deal without a future buy clause.

The Olympians are now awaiting a decision from Enzo Maresca’s side over which players will temporarily depart West London this winter.

This represents a damming blow for the Gers who would have been hopeful of adding the defender to their ranks before the end of the window.

With such limited time remaining before the 3 February, there may be no chance for Clement to find and bring in another defensive target in a blow to his side for the rest of the campaign.

In other Rangers news, “a decent bid for Cyriel Dessers” could be accepted before the transfer deadline.
