Rangers have seemingly been given the green light to complete a late swoop for Bobby Clark.

The Gers have been linked with a winter move for the 19-year-old [DaveOCKOP], who currently plays his football in Austria for RB Salzburg.

This comes just six months after the midfielder left Liverpool to link up with Jurgen Klopp's former assistant manager Pep Lijnders, who has since been sacked.

The possibility of securing a loan deal before the 3 February transfer deadline has been explored and the Gers may have a great chance of landing his signature after the latest news.

Rangers could move closer to Bobby Clark signing

It is fair to say that the Englishman will be keen to make a move away from the Red Bull Arena in search of more regular playing time.

The Red Bulls' number ten has made just five league starts since departing Anfield, scoring one goal so far in the Austrian Bundesliga.

A move away could have taken a step closer after Salzburg's sports director Rouven Schroder made it clear that any player could leave before the end of the winter window.

Speaking to Krone Zeitung, transcribed by the Daily Record (1 February), he said: "Players who got less playing time in the autumn are now looking to get a new chance. We feel and see that the group has a lot of potential.

"Every day we think about the squad and how good individual players are. Basically, we look at all positions very closely. No player is indispensable. But in the end, we examine the entire market and find out."

This could give Philippe Clement and Co. the perfect opportunity to step in and offer Clark the opportunity to play week-in-week-out.

Given that his current club have been knocked out of the Champions League, the prospect of the Europa League round of 16 could help to sweeten the deal.
