Rangers make approach to sign Chelsea ace Anselmino amid late loan exit update

Rangers have made a late approach to Chelsea to sign Aaron Anselmino on loan, according to the Sun on Sunday.

The report in the newspaper’s print edition (page 55, 2 February) claims that the Gers have enquired about the availability of the Argentine defender.

It states that the 19-year-old is also attracting interest from English Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday.

The report claims that the Blues are willing to loan out the rising star as they believe he needs to toughen up.

Rangers need defensive reinforcements

Phillipe Clement is in need of reinforcements in defence in the winter transfer window with the 3 February deadline rapidly approaching.

Leon King was forced off with a head injury in the 2-1 win against Union Saint-Gilloise and will join Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Dujon Sterling on the sidelines.

If the Bears suffer any more injury concerns to their backline then they will regret not strengthening their ranks in the market while they had the chance.

A deal for Anselmino makes sense, he is one of the most highly-rated defensive talents in the game and would provide Clement will the cover that he desperately needs.

The Gers’ only addition in the winter window so far has been a loan deal for Portuguese defender Rafael Fernandes from Lille.

If the Light Blues are to bridge the ten-point gap to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, they need more additions in the next two days.
