Cyriel Dessers Rangers exit twist emerges amid transfer update

Leganes have made contact with Rangers over a deal to sign Cyriel Dessers in January, according to Matthew Moreto.

The Spanish journalist reported on 15 January that the La Liga outfit have launched an enquiry with them keen on the 30-year-old.

Despite playing 19 league games this season, the Nigeria international has fallen down in the pecking order at Ibrox and is ready to leave this month. [TEAMtalk, 10 January]

Via X, the journalist wrote: “Leganes has asked about Cyriel Dessers.”

Rangers must sign a new striker post Cyriel Dessers’ sale

The Nigerian striker’s exit means that Gers will be a forward short and they need to sign a replacement.

Hopefully, work is already going on with regards to a new number nine arriving and fans will hope that he’s better than Dessers.

Despite getting decent numbers last season, it was hard to rely on the Nigerian as he’s had a penchant for missing chances.

It remains to be seen where he ends up as there is interest from Italy [Corriere Fiorentino] as well and now Leganes, the 2023/24 Segunda winners, are also keen on securing his services.

Gers must only consider permanent sales as it’s pretty evident that Dessers no longer has a future at Ibrox.

It is also unclear what Leganes’ spending power is and whether or not they’ll be able to afford what Gers want for Dessers.
