Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers is one to watch as Empoli look to perform another "miracle" and avoid relegation, according to Corriere Fiorentino.

The newspaper reports in its print edition (page 5, 13 January) that the Serie A club could target the Nigerian forward or Eldor Shomurodov at Roma.

The president of the Tuscany club, Fabrizio Corsi has been urged to intervene in the winter transfer window with the club sitting in 14th place, just two points above the drop zone.

The 30-year-old has dropped down the pecking order under Philippe Clement, featuring for a total of 79 minutes in the last six Scottish Premiership matches.

Rangers should sell Dessers in January

Given the form of Hamza Igamane and Danilo, the Bears can afford to offload the Nigerian.

Dessers has notched six goals and two assists in 19 league appearances so far this term but has found playing time hard to come by in recent months.

The Light Blues should look to strike a deal with an interested club and recoup some funds to allow Clement to strengthen his side with the well-documented financial issues that they have.

The squad desperately needs an uplift as they are 15 points behind arch-rivals Celtic and the gap does not look like being closed anytime soon.

They have decided to back the Belgian manager despite the significant pressure from supporters, now they need to support him with additions in the market.

Offloading the underwhelming forward may be a way to do just that, with his time seemingly coming to an end at Ibrox.
