Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers is ready to quit with Empoli making a new striker a priority transfer, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper reported in its print edition [11 January, pg 23], that Dessers could be a target for Empoli with an Ibrox exit looking almost inevitable [TEAMtalk].

It is said that Dessers would be "ready to take the field" immediately and given his disappointing time at Rangers, it could be a deal that suits all parties.

Cyriel Dessers destined for Rangers exit

The emergence of Hamza Igamane has curtailed just about any need for Dessers at Ibrox and his lack of form could provide Rangers with the perfect opportunity to cash in on the 30-year-old.

The Gers are said to be ready to sell the striker [Rangers Review] and a January exit seems to make plenty of sense for everyone involved.

Although many will deny it, Dessers does have plenty of ability but for whatever reason, it just hasn't worked at Rangers and the opportunity to offload him would work and Empoli would be getting a forward who could change their fortunes.

There seems little cause for optimism regarding Dessers at Ibrox and it feels like an exit is the only possible outcome.

Should the Light Blues be able to cash in on the striker, it will provide them with some extra financial capabilities to go on and strengthen elsewhere in a bid to revive their season.
