Cyriel Dessers exit: Delays broken with Rangers transfer now on cards

Empoli are set to break their transfer delays and could sign Cyriel Dessers from Rangers, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The newspaper reports in its print edition (14 January, pg 25) that the Serie A outfit could soon hand Roberto D’Aversa reinforcements up front, with the Gers striker on their radar.

The Nigerian forward and Roma’s Eldor Shomurodov are wanted by the Italian outfit to bolster their attack in the winter transfer window.

Rangers should cash in with Cyriel Dessers transfer

The Light Blues should use the opportunity in the winter window to part ways with Dessers while he still has some value attached to him.

After a poor start to the season at the Bears, the 30-year-old has lost his pace in the starting line-up, and it doesn’t look like he will be able to regain it.

If the Nigerian forward continues to remain on the bench for the rest of the campaign, his price tag will evidently go down until the summer.

Rangers need to be prudent in their transfer business and sell Dessers immediately, using the funds to add depth to their backline.

In the attack, Hamza Igamane has emerged as a reliable outlet and can be called upon for the foreseeable future until a big offer comes for him.

Danilo is also consistently getting on the scoresheet whenever he’s called upon, leaving Dessers on the peripheries of the squad.

With the money the Glaswegian outfit could generate from the Nigerian striker’s departure, a centre-back should be targeted to bolster the injury-ravaged backline.

The 30-year-old’s exit will be ideal for all parties involved.
