Ridvan Yilmaz edges closer to Rangers exit after what he did, Clement to cash in

Ridvan Yilmaz has long been linked with a Rangers exit and those rumours now look to be hanging heavy over his head this month.

The 23-year-old has started the last three matches at right-back, with Jefte occupying the opposite flank, and Ibrox News understands that the main priority this window is to sell him permanently.

He joined in the summer of 2022 but has since only made 64 appearances, often struggling will injury before not being able to get back into the starting XI, though he has been included recently.

While fans have been excited to see him back at Philippe Clement’s disposal, that could be exactly what forces the Gers to seal his exit before the January transfer window slams shut.

And if the Light Blues can make £4.9million from his potential sale, £1.5million more than his initial move to Scotland [BBC Sport], it is tough to see Patrick Stewart and Nils Koppen thinking twice about the decision.

Of course, the Gers have been heavily affected by injuries this season, but if a deal were to be done soon, it would be much easier to find a cheap alternative rather than keeping him until the summer.

Rangers to sell Ridvan Yilmaz after Dundee display?

As stated above, it could actually be Yilmaz’s time on the pitch that seals his fate, with the defender called out by David Edgar as “absolutely honking” during the 1-1 draw against Dundee on Thursday (9 January).

Could his mind have been on a potential move away from Ibrox?

This is not the first time the Turkish international has been slammed for his performance away from Ibrox, and if he remains at the club for any longer, it certainly won’t be the last.

Yilmaz has proven time and time again how unreliable he can be, whether that’s on the field or off it due to his inability to remain fit for long periods of time.

If Koppen can find a sensible replacement for the 23-year-old defender, there is nothing stopping Clement from cashing in and blooding a new player in either full-back.
