Rangers eye £650k midfielder in new transfer development

Rangers are keen on signing Varazdin midfielder Leon Belcar, who’s valued at around £650k, according to the Scottish Sun.

The news outlet reported on 2 January following an update from Croatian outlet 24 Sata claiming that AZ Alkmaar and Club Brugge are also keen on securing the 22-year-old’s services.

While he is still to make his senior bow, he has featured for the Under-21s side on six occasions previously and is on the club’s radar in the January transfer window.

Leon Belcar will be a good signing for Rangers

Belcar, despite being a midfielder is known for his goal-scoring prowess so he’s certainly a player who would be a good addition to the Gers squad.

The Ibrox outfit do not have a deep midfielder who can be trusted to chip in with the goals and he could offer something unique to the side.

There have been occasions when they’ve struggled to break down resilient sides so having Belcar in the team can be crucial.

Whether or not Gers succeed in bringing him to the club, remains to be seen, as there are other teams waiting in the wings too.

However, the valuation of £650k makes him an affordable option for the Ibrox outfit and they must open talks right away if they are serious.

With Ianis Hagi facing an uncertain future, having another option who can fill in multiple roles may come in handy.
