Rangers attacker Ianis Hagi's agent Giovanni Becali has not openly stated his client wants to leave in January.

In an interview with Fanatik (24 December), Becali revealed that he was asked about Hagi's future, but he did not give them an answer and said that talks could continue in the new year.

He also stated that big transfers do not happen in the winter, potentially throwing cold water on any immediate exit for the Romania international.

Becali said: "They were asking me from Italy if Borza and Ianis Hagi would come here (no – Genoa).

"I told them: 'Guys, aren't you healthy? Hey, let people celebrate their holidays like the world does. Let people celebrate Christmas, let people celebrate New Year. Let's move on to January when it's transfer window month and then let's talk a little more.'

"Big transfers don't happen in the winter. Since yesterday, the day before yesterday, several journalists from Italy have been looking for me with Ianis Hagi. In Italy, they invent more than here. If it doesn't say Fabrizio Romano, it's harder to believe. And Fabrizio is at 85%-90%, he's not at 100%."

Ianis Hagi is likely to continue at Rangers

While it was shambolic how he was treated by the club, that seems to be water under the bridge, as things stand.

Since he’s being given a chance by Philippe Clement, he has not looked back and done exceptionally well since then.

He has bagged goals and assists and has combined well with the attackers around him.

With Hagi in the side, Hamza Igamane and Cyriel Dessers have also looked better and that’s been vital to the club’s uptick in form.

It’s even earned Clement some more time at the club as not just results, but performances have also improved.

Hopefully, Hagi can win back the complete trust of the decision makers and can go on to sign a new deal some time this season.
