Borna Barisic to help Philippe Clement sell Rangers ace in January

Borna Barisic could help Philippe Clement only six months after he left Rangers.

The 32-year-old ended his six-year stay at Ibrox in the summer, and now Trabzonspor are considering a mutual termination of his contract after an underwhelming spell in Turkey [Daily Record].

However, the Turkish Super Lig outfit are preparing another raid on the Gers and want to bring full-back Ridvan Yilmaz back to his homeland in January [Ersan Serdal].

While talks regarding Barisic’s uncertain future in Turkey have since gone quiet, Rangers Review reported on Sunday (29 December) that Dinamo Zagreb are now preparing a move ten years since the left-back made one sole appearance for the Croatian outfit.

The transfer merry-go-round is in full swing in Glasgow, and Barisic could help the Light Blues one final time.

Borna Barisic can aid Rangers transfer plans in January

Ibrox News understands that Rangers have made the sale of Yilmaz a priority ahead of January.

The Gers are looking to recoup a fee between £4.1million and £4.9m for his services, and with the full-back positions well-stocked at Ibrox, the fee would be invested into other key positions across the pitch.

While Neraysho Kasanwirjo is a long-term absentee through injury, Dujon Sterling and Jefte can operate on the left side of the defence, whereas captain James Tavernier can also occupy the position if need be.

Rangers have been massively off it in the Scottish Premiership this season and it is clear that January reinforcements are a necessity.

Clement embarked on an extensive squad overhaul throughout the summer, adopting a sell-to-buy approach and must work under strict financial constraints once again.

The Light Blues would benefit significantly from a near £5m cash influx from the sale of Yilmaz, and with Cyriel Dessers also on the chopping block after an underwhelming campaign in front of goal, whatever happens in January will define how the rest of the season plays out at Ibrox.

Barisic has struggled for minutes in Turkey, and with a return to Croatia on the cards to see out the remaining years of his career, his departure would benefit all parties but no more so than his former employers, Rangers.

Trabzonspor will be free to sanction a move for Yilmaz and Clement will have much-needed funds to begin another squad rebuild.
