Ange Postecoglou sack update shared from Ibrox ahead of Rangers v Tottenham

Michael Bridge says Ange Postecoglou is not under immediate pressure of being sacked going into the game between Rangers and Tottenham.

The former Celtic boss is back at Ibrox on Thursday [12 December] for a Europa League tie between the two sides.

While Philippe Clement comes into this game under pressure due to a poor season, there has also been plenty of speculation surrounding Postecoglou’s future in North London due to his side having not won in four games.

Although Rangers fans would be keen to cause the downfall of the Australian manager, this game will not be a decider in his future.

Speaking live on Sky Sports News [12 December, 4:04pm] stood outside Ibrox, Bridge was asked if a defeat could cost Postecoglou his job and said: “Our understanding is that he is under no immediate pressure from Daniel Levy.”

Rangers could add pressure to Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Although it seems as though the 59-year-old is safe at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for now, regardless of the result of this game, there is no doubt that a loss against Rangers would certainly add to the pressure he is facing going forward.

There is no love lost between the Gers fans and the previous Celtic manager, with supporters no doubt keen to make that known in the competition between the two sides at Ibrox.

In a game between two inconsistent teams, this could be anyone’s match depending on which versions of the teams show up.

Clement knows he needs results just as much as his managerial opponent and therefore will be keen to get the win in this game.

If the Gers can come out on top, it may not lead to a sacking in North London, but it will surely make Daniel Levy question how far the boss can take them and lead to further pressure on him going forward, something Rangers will be pleased to have played a part in.
