Rangers v Tottenham – ‘Frustrating’ development emerges for Europa League clash

Four Lads’ Stevie Clifford believes that Rabbi Matondo’s fitness issues must be frustrating for Rangers boss Philippe Clement.

Ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur Europa League clash on Thursday, the Belgian revealed that the Wales international has been training but is not ready to make a first-team return.

This has been the update on the 24-year-old for a while with him being back in training in November.

Four Lads wrote on X: “I’m genuinely sure I’ve read this update the last 5 weeks 😂

“Must be frustrating for the manager!”

Rabbi Matondo appears to be in a re-injury cycle at Rangers

Matondo seems to be caught in a frustrating cycle of re-injury and rehabilitation that has not only tested his patience but also potentially that of Clement.

Despite returning to training in November and posting hints of returning in October, the Welshman’s progress has been notably slow, with updates suggesting he’s been on the cusp of a first-team return for weeks without actually making it back.

This situation points to a pattern where each time the 24-year-old appears close to fitness, a minor issue flares up, preventing him from fully recovering.

This recurring theme of setbacks could be attributed to a lingering muscle problem that hasn’t fully healed or perhaps isn’t being managed effectively.

If the club decide to push him prematurely, there’s a significant chance Matondo could re-injure himself, potentially worsening the injury and extending his time away from competitive football.

So, it makes sense that the club are remaining patient with his return, even though it might be frustrating for the manager.
