Rangers: Tam McManus issues Borna Barisic Ibrox exit verdict
Tam McManus believes that Philippe Clement no longer fancies Borna Barisic to put in a shift for Rangers.
Speaking on PLZ Soccer on 25 March after news emerged that Ridvan Yilmaz picked up an injury on international duty, the conversation moved to the Croatian.
The 31-year-old has already got an offer to leave in the summer and an update has emerged on him agreeing personal terms.
McManus said: “Barisic has been in Siberia. He’s not been courted at all.
“I think he’s going to leave Rangers at the end of the season.
“I don’t think the manager fancies him but you have to play him.
“I don’t think Rangers have another left-back on the books that they can fill in there unless they play a midfield player in there or something.
“That’ll be a big blow.”
Barisic appears to be in his final few months at Rangers
With Barisic’s contract approaching expiration, coupled with Yilmaz’s emergence ahead of him in the pecking order and the potential arrival of Jefte in the summer, parting ways with Barisic seems logical for the Ibrox outfit.
While Barisic has been a decent performer, the dynamics within the squad are shifting, and his departure could pave the way for fresh talent and tactical adjustments.
The need to free up resources, both in terms of squad space and wages, further supports the decision to let Barisic go.
Although his departure would be a blow given his contributions, it presents an opportunity for Clement to rejuvenate the left-back position and reinforce other areas of the team, potentially strengthening their overall squad depth for the challenges ahead.
Most Gers fans would agree that Barisic is no longer an important first-team player so parting ways makes a whole lot of sense.
In other Rangers news, European league giants have started their summer transfer activity and have launched a bid for a first-team Gers player with an update shared on his decision.
