Rangers transfer news as white smoke close for Cyriel Dessers move to Ibrox

Rangers are confident of completing the signing of Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers for £3.6million, according to Calciomercato.

The Nigerian international netted seven goals in 29 games for the Serie A side last season, however, following their relegation from the Italian top division, the Lombard club are now obliged to sell.

The report states that white smoke could be close for the Gers, who are “confident of completing the operation” for Dessers.

Negotiations between the two parties are well underway, with £850,000 in bonuses also set to be attached to the £3.6million outright price.

Brilliant news

After losing Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos, Rangers desperately need to replenish their attacking ranks to make a charge for the Scottish Premiership title next season.

Antonio Colak’s future at the club is also still in doubt, and Kemar Roofe has been riddled with injuries over the last 12 months, so Beale looks incredibly short on options without any personnel changes this summer.

Dessers looks like a great option for the £3.6million price tag when considering the original £7million fee that was tipped by the Scottish Daily Mail.

After a couple of years of disappointing transfer business, Rangers look to be finally undertaking the overhaul that their first-team squad has been craving.

Hopefully, signings such as this can help to level the gap between the Gers and their Old Firm rivals heading into next season, especially now Ange Postecoglou has left for Spurs.

Four signings have already put pen to paper at Ibrox in the last month, and Dessers could continue the brilliant start to the summer for Rangers.
