Michael Beale displays real promise without director of football as Rangers push ahead with transfers
Rangers are reportedly not likely to scrap the Director of Football position in future after Ross Wilson’s departure but Michael Beale is displaying real promise on the transfer front without it.
Following the recent departure of Ross Wilson to Nottingham Forest, there is a vacancy for the senior position at the club, ahead of what is already proving to be a crucial summer at Ibrox.
Wilson’s departure certainly led to much clamour about Rangers’ ability to get potential deals over the line in order to strengthen Beale’s squad ahead of next season.

Scottish Herald journalist Chris Jack mooted recently that there could be a change of delegations in future, with Rangers closed to scrapping a future DOf appointment.
He told the Rangers Review [13 April] at 6:02, “I would be surprised if they scrap it altogether. Perhaps they can focus on a different role and bring in someone focused on the recruitment side of it and then bring in somebody else to fill in all the other various aspects of that role.
“I think there’s a lack of understanding among football fans or not a great appreciation of what a Director of Football role does.”
While the Gers are set to appoint a new transfer chief soon, Beale seems to be doing incredibly well without the help behind the scenes.
Rangers have undergone a huge revamp above Beale, with Craig Mulholland, Douglas Park, Ross Wilson, Andrew Dickson and Stewart Robertson all leaving at the end of the season in what looks to be a significant refresh behind the scenes at Ibrox.

There have certainly been calls from the fans and those associated with the Light Blues for months now for big changes at Ibrox, but such changes may have held Beale back in getting his much-needed transfer deals over the line.
However, with the way things have progressed at Ibrox right, the former QPR boss is excelling and showing real promise despite the uncertainty at boardroom level.
The club have already completed three transfer already having announced Jack Butland as the latest player to join Beale’s squad at Ibrox with the English goalkeeper signing a four-year deal, joining both Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling.
The Daily Record revealed on 6 June that Jose Cifuentes was set to be the next signing through the door following Butland’s announcement, showing that Rangers simply don’t need a transfer chief to be truly efficient and successful in the market.

Beale’s plans are well underway right now, and there’s a real structure and intention with the way business is progressing at Ibrox. Credit must be given to him for forcing ahead with his plans despite all the incoming and outgoings above him, which will have given plenty of his managerial counterparts cause for concern.
Rangers cannot ignore the fact they need to sign multiple players this summer and it’s good to see that an early and meticulous effort is being made to bolster Beale’s squad so quickly.
Celtic’s success during the 2022/23 campaign seems to have struck a nerve, and Rangers are responding brilliantly by providing Beale with the tools he needs to build this side into his image, even without the help of a transfer chief.
The outgoings at Ibrox will be just as crucial however, and it is an element of their huge summer they must get right if they are to fully build a squad capable of challenging Celtic in the long-run next season.
For now, Beale means business with his recent transfer dealings providing fans with the encouragement they need heading into the new season.
In other Rangers news, Beale is ready to throw millions at a new attack forced based on reports of a bid being submitted.
