Rangers bid for Cyriel Dessers shows Michael Beale ready to throw millions at new strike force
With the news that Rangers have already made a significant bid for Cyriel Dessers, it shows that the club is literally frontloading the majority of its budget as part of the summer rebuild of the squad.
A “significant opening offer” [Daily Mail] is said to have been proposed to Cremonese with the Italian side said to be holding out for more than they paid Genk last summer, for the 28-year-old.
Michael Beale is putting his jigsaw together, with the most important pieces to be placed together in attack, to reveal a new potent strike force.
Already, Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling have been signed and sealed, with Jack Butland’s confirmation at the club, set to follow.
Other reports on Tuesday have indicated that Jose Cifuentes will be the fourth addition and that is before the transfer window is actually open.
Once that happens, the real money will be spent. Of the four named above, only the Ecuadorian international has required a fee, with the rest showing how smart business can be conducted in the market.

On top of the recent additions of Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin, the club can be happy with its recent action.
In terms of who will follow for what positions, that is not quite clear.
A central defender, possibly two, is most likely to be purchased with Nottingham Forest’s Jonathan Panzo one of the names linked.
Another midfielder is an option, especially with the upcoming departure of Glen Kamara but the focus will soon shift to the front line.
Beale needs to replace Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent, as well as the existing need for more quality and quantity at the top end of the pitch.
It is not unreasonable to expect three forwards to arrive, including two who can operate in different roles in the hybrid style that the Gers manager prefers.
In order to land Dessers, as well as Sam Lammers who has been linked, significant money will need to be spent and that is what is set to happen in the coming weeks in order to deliver the firepower required for the challenges ahead.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have been sent an injury warning regarding one of Beale’s new signings.
