Frankfurt could hijack Rangers move for Ridvan Yilmaz if Filip Kostic leaves

Rangers could reportedly face a roadblock in their pursuit of Besiktas left-back Ridvan Yilmaz despite the move being close.

According to German media outlet Kicker, if Filip Kostic leaves, with West Ham rumoured to be interested, then they will look to sign the Turkish left-back ahead of Gers.

This is despite the fact that Yilmaz is having a medical at the 55-time SPFL champions and Frankfurt will have to be quick if they want to sign him ahead of Rangers.

Time to worry?

While interest from a club playing in the Champions League is usually a cause of worry, we’re confident that Yilmaz will be a Gers player.

Things have progressed way too much for them to fall through and Ross Wilson must have done enough to convince the 21-year-old to move to Ibrox.

Gers may qualify for the Champions League themselves so if that’s the only deciding factor then they have nothing else to worry about.

He will not be challenging for the league as he will at Ibrox and winning silverware does wonders to players at his age.

Hopefully, he should complete his medical without any real hindrance and we should see an official announcement within the coming days.

As long as Kostic’s transfer gets held up it’s safe to assume that there will be no official bid from Frankfurt for the Turkish defender.

In other Rangers news, Celtic and the Gers are at loggerheads over a record-breaking SPFL midfielder and a bid for him has already been tabled.
