Ridvan Yilmaz undergoes medical ahead of Rangers move

Rangers are on the cusp of sealing another major transfer with Ridvan Yilmaz now reportedly undergoing his medical at the club.

According to beIN Sports journalist Gurler Akgun, the 21-year-old left-back is reportedly set to complete his move to the 55-time SPFL champions.

Having sold Calvin Bassey to Ajax, Rangers have moved quickly to secure his replacement in the form of the Turkey international.

Via Twitter, Akgun wrote, “Rıdvan Yılmaz goes through health checks for Rangers.”

Here we go

This is a phenomenal deal for the club and they must be proud of how quickly they’ve managed to get things over the line.

Losing Bassey was always going to be a blow but it’s something that they were prepared for and are now on the cusp of getting it over the line.

He’s unlikely to have any problems with his medical and we’re expecting this to be a formality with an official announcement sooner rather than later.

It will be interesting to see what this means for Borna Barisic as he would assume that he’s going to be the first-choice left-back.

However, Yilmaz is a rising start and will have moved to Ibrox under the impression of being a first-team regular.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will need to address these squad dynamics before the new season begins but there’s certainly excitement building about this new signing.

In other Rangers news, Celtic and the Gers are at loggerheads over a record-breaking SPFL midfielder and a bid for him has already been tabled.
