Celtic table bid for Rangers target and St Mirren midfielder Dylan Reid

Celtic have reportedly tabled a six-figure bid to sign St Mirren midfielder Dylan Reid ahead of rivals Rangers this summer.

According to the Scottish Sun, the Hoops’ offer is around £125,000 and they have opened talks with the SPFL club over a move.

Gers are understood to be keen on the 17-year-old and have also scouted him but have not been planning any offer for him just yet.

Sign him?

Reid broke the SPFL record when he made his debut against Gers at Ibrox coming off in the 88th minute to become the youngest ever player in the division.

Shortly after his 16th birthday, he was brought off the bench and made history with his brief cameo towards the end of the game.

If Celtic are willing to shell out six figures for a 17-year-old, there surely must be something to him and Gers must look to explore this option.

Clubs in England are also vying for his services while Portuguese side Benfica have been credited with an interest in signing him as well.

Rangers’ cross-town rivals have already opened talks and there’s a belief that they are confident of getting this deal over the line.

The Ibrox chiefs must not regret letting him move to Celtic Park and they must try whatever they can in order to convince him to the blue half of Glasgow.

In other Rangers news, contract talks with a key player have hit a new impasse with a summer exit now very much on the cards.
