Rangers may be forced to sell Alfredo Morelos as contract talks stall

Contract talks between Rangers and striker Alfredo Morelos have reportedly hit an impasse with an exit looking likely.

According to The Chronicle, Gers may be forced to sell the Colombian this summer as he is in the final year of his deal from July.

This could open the door for the 55-time SPFL champions to go out and sign Sunderland striker Ross Stewart who is understood to be at the top of their transfer shortlist.

Set to leave?

Morelos’ situation is hard for most to understand from the outside and what happens in the negotiations, only a few people know.

However, whenever the window opens, the Colombian is always one of the first ones to be linked with the exit door.

Seldom does he come out and state that he’s set to stay at Ibrox, which could mean that he’s always looking for taking a step up.

It’s like he’s biding his time to see if a decent club comes in for his services that may offer him Champions League football or something else that he would fancy.

Until then, he does not seem likely to say yes or no to a new Rangers deal and this could be frustrating for the club hierarchy who certainly view him as one of their best players.

If Stewart is the man who they deem to be his replacement then they must go out and get him and let Morelos decide what he wants and if he wants to leave, then cash in this summer.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
