Kenny Miller delivers verdict on Rangers-linked Giovani van Bronckhorst

Kenny Miller has suggested that Giovanni van Bronckhorst would be a very good appointment for Rangers.

Over the next few days, Rangers will be looking to appoint a new manager following the departure of Steven Gerrard who has joined Aston Villa today as their next manager.

Miller has suggested that former Rangers hero, van Bronckhorst, seems a “real good fit” as he knows the club inside out.

Gerrard’s exit has come out of the blue. Following the sacking of Dean Smith, Villa made an approach to sign Gerrard who found the offer hard to reject.

The Liverpool legend has done a brilliant job at Rangers, and therefore the next appointment has to be the right choice.

“From the outside looking in, when you see the names that have been linked with the job is far, Giovanni van Bronckhorst seems a real good fit,” said Miller to Sky Sports.

“He knows the club inside out, he played in a real successful spell under Dick Advocaat and went on to have a wonderful playing career.

“He’s a success as a coach and a manager, winning cups and leagues with Feyenoord. He’s young but relatively experienced and I am sure he would relish the opportunity to come to Ibrox and rekindle his love affair with the football club.”

The Dutch defender was a great player who managed over 100 appearances for the Netherlands.

As a manager, he is currently out of work, having last managed Guangzhou R&F in December 2020.

Rangers

The 46-year-old has got previous managerial experience at Feyenoord, and he would be a smart appointment for the club.

He is reportedly interested in managing Rangers, a club with whom he won five trophies during his three-year spell as a player.

Rangers are top of the Scottish Premiership table with 30 points, four points ahead of arch-rivals Celtic.

At the same time, they still have a chance of progressing through the next round of the Europa League.

Rangers are a massive club, and the club must go through the process to sign their next manager.
