Rangers ready increased bid to sign Dutch ace Joey Veerman
Rangers are readying a second bid to sign Heerenveen midfielder Joey Veerman after being outbid by Hellas Verona, according to The Times.
On Thursday, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported that the Gers had offered around £3.8million for the 22-year-old but Italian outfit Verona had made a bid worth in the region of £4.5million.
The Times now reports the Scottish champions are “considering whether to increase their £3.8 million offer” with Veerman making it clear he wants to quit Heerenveen this summer.

If Rangers are going to sign one player this summer who most fans would be happy with, it would be Veerman.
The former Netherlands youth international seems like a very talented young player who could walk straight into Steven Gerrard’s starting line-up at Ibrox.
He’s a defensive midfielder who can also play in a more central role and last season, he made 35 appearances in all competitions for Heerenveen, scoring nine goals and supplying 11 assists in the process.
According to WhoScored, Veerman has no significant weaknesses while his strengths are key passes, dribbling and taking set-pieces.
In the Eredivisie last season, Veerman ranked ninth for key passes per game [1.9] and fifth for dribbles per game [2.5].
There’s no doubt that he was one of the best midfielders in Dutch football last season and if we can lure him to Ibrox, he will surely become one of the best in Scotland in his position.
Gerrard needs to add to his central midfield options too.
Nnamdi Ofoborh has arrived from Bournemouth but we’ve seen Bongani Zungu leave when his loan spell expired, Steven Davis is ageing and Ryan Jack has suffered all kinds of injury issues.
Glen Kamara’s future is also the subject of increased speculation so it leaves us with no doubt in our minds that Veerman would be a top addition to the squad this summer.
In other Rangers news, Michael Stewart made a ridiculous claim about this Ibrox star this week.
