Ibrox View: Santiago Moreno would be an ideal Morelos replacement
Colombian attacker Santiago Moreno would be a good option as Alfredo Morelos looks likely to leave Rangers this summer.
Renowned Colombian journalist Ricardo Arce claims that Rangers have been triggered by Moreno’s £2million valuation and could look to sign him this summer.
Initially, Football Insider had reported that the player would be available for £5million so his value reducing by more than half is something that’s understood to have excited Rangers.
That said, Morelos’ exit is imminent and it would be wise for the Scottish champions to plan for the future.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Moreno has been likened to Sadio Mane and has already shown glimpses of why he could be as good as the Liverpool forward.
He’s got quick feet, a low centre of gravity and is versatile enough to play all across the front line.
Moreno might not be the name that instantly excites Gers fans, but neither was Morelos and in hindsight, his transfer put into motion a solid rebuild of the squad that eventually went on the capture the Scottish Premiership.
However, we’re not the only club interested in him so we need to act sooner rather than later if we are to acquire his services.
The 21-year-old is almost certain to earn himself a move this summer as there’s already a growing demand and more teams are getting to know about his quality.
We don’t expect him to come and hit the ground running at the Ibrox Stadium next season, but Steven Gerrard has been known to be patient with players that train hard and have sky-high potential, and we believe that Moreno would be a manager’s dream should he move to Scotland.
