Report: Brentford keen on signing Glen Kamara this summer
Brentford have reportedly joined Watford in the race to sign Rangers ace Glen Kamara.
According to The Daily Mail, the Finland international is subject to transfer interest from two of the three newly-promoted Premier League sides as they’re keen on signing defensive midfielders in this transfer window.
Rangers are not likely to let go of the midfielder on the cheap and are demanding a fee north of £10million in exchange for his services.
Kamara is one of Steven Gerrard’s favourites at the club, and losing him could prove to be a vital blow for the Gers boss.
The 25-year-old is an extremely intelligent and hard-working payer who is an exceptionally good reader of the game.
Interest heating up
We were expecting there to be a lot of interest in his services even before the window began, but his performances at Euro 2020 have put him in the spotlight.
Even playing for a smaller nation like Finland, Kamara managed to stand out and was undoubtedly one of the best defensive midfielders in the group stages.
Recently, Five Yards shared a statistic showing just how influential he is defensively.
Of all the players at the EUROs, none made more interceptions (10) than Kamara did.
Prior to the tournament, he had a season worth remembering for us and has already emerged as a fan favourite.
It’s going to be disappointing when he leaves, but we’ve kind of come to terms with the fact that he does have loftier ambitions.
However, clubs like Brentford and Watford won’t necessarily be seen as a step up in his career.
Both the teams will be fighting to avoid relegation next season while we’re going to be playing Champions League football and competing to retain the Scottish Premiership title.
