Why Rangers will now crank up Nicolas Raskin price as £20m+ exit on cards
Nicolas Raskin looks set to end his time at Rangers, but not without handing the Glasgow side a sizeable fee.
Raskin has been touted to be on the radar of clubs in the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga.
The Gers will struggle to keep hold of the Ibrox fan favourite, who will likely be wanting to seek opportunities at a higher level.
Derek McInnes' side has seemingly already begun work to replace the Belgium international amid various midfielder links.
But replacing Raskin will not be an easy task by any stretch.
However, that difficulty will be softened by what has come out about Rangers' potential sale of Raskin.
What is the latest on Nicolas Raskin's Rangers exit?
Rangers and their supporters are already resigning themselves to losing Raskin.
His performances for the Gers earned him a spot in Belgium's World Cup squad, and his displays in North America will likely see him attract plenty of interest.
His potential exit could come with a boost for the Gers, though.
According to the Daily Mail, Rangers' record sale "will certainly be broken if they do sell Raskin".
As things stand, Calvin Bassey's move to Ajax for £20million is the record holder.
Thanks to Raskin's performances at the World Cup, in which the report states "he hasn't looked out of place among elite company", the Scottish Premiership side are now in a position to be "cranking up their asking price".
Raskin is now targeting to go better than Belgium's highest World Cup finish of third place back in 2018.
His qualities will be tested once more and at a higher level than he has faced yet in a quarter-final matchup against Spain.
Which sides are interested in Raskin?
As stated, Raskin is already attracting plenty of suitors this transfer window.
Raskin has been subject to a £12-14m bid from Hull City, which was rejected due to falling below Rangers' £20m valuation.
The Daily Mail have also stated that the Belgian is also on the radar of Atalanta and Bologna in Serie A.
Tottenham Hotspur is another name that has been thrown into the mix as well.
So, the Bears will have no shortage of interested parties, and that will only further the belief they can earn more than their initial set price of £20m.
If a bidding war emerges, the Bears should be able to beat out their previous record sale with ease.
