Nicolas Raskin green light given for transfer as Manuel Pellegrini pushes for Rangers star

Published on

Nicolas Raskin is wanted by yet another club as Real Betis join the race for the Rangers star's signature.

The Belgium international is impressing at the World Cup, only intensifying talk over a possible Ibrox exit.

Raskin has been linked with Serie A pair Bologna and Atalanta over the past week.

Newly promoted Premier League side Hull City are said to have tabled a bid for Raskin, meanwhile, which falls short of the Gers' asking price.

A former Premier League-winning manager in Manuel Pellegrini is now eager to bring the central midfielder to Spain.

And as per a new update, it may well be that things are falling into place for Raskin to join Real Betis.

Real Betis get house in order to push for Nicolas Raskin deal

Betis finished fifth in LaLiga last season to qualify for the Champions League group phase.

Pellegrini's side reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League last term, having also reached the final of the Conference League in 2024-25.

According to ElDesmarque, Raskin is a player Betis have had on their radar for quite some time.

El Glorioso are said to be finalising the exits of Nelson Deossa and Sergi Altimira, which is the first steps towards freeing up funds to sign Raskin.

Raskin and Dani Ceballos are two names on the table to form part of Betis' "significant" midfield overhaul.

Pellegrini is said to have personally given the green light for Betis to make the Raskin transfer happen.

While that is a worrying thought, it may not be all bad news for Rangers fans.

Rangers must look at bigger picture when it comes to Raskin

Rangers have knocked back advances for Raskin in the past, but it is becoming quite clear his future lies elsewhere.

There is a possibility the Gers keep him at Ibrox for another 12 months to help begin the Derek McInnes revolution.

However, the valuation of Raskin - hailed as "top class" by Barry Ferguson - will never be as high as it is right now.

Given all the talk regarding his future, it is not inconceivable that Rangers land the £20million or so they are holding out for.

If that can be done early enough in the window, that can instantly be reinvested into the squad.

Ultimately, McInnes' options will be strengthened by three or four signings being made at the expense of Raskin.
