Why Fares Ghedjemis is grateful as Rangers get clarity after £8m bid
The 24-year-old was the subject of an £8million bid from Rangers in the summer.
That was rejected, with Frosinone said to be holding out for a huge sum of around £17million.
Rangers were clearly never going to go close to that, while Old Firm rivals Celtic opted against a move.
Ghedjemis recently signed a new deal with the Italian side, but that has not stopped talk of Rangers still being interested.
However, a new interview from the Algeria international surely puts all that to bed.
What has Fares Ghedjemis said about summer interest?
Ghedjemis' agent this week said clubs remain interested in the winger.
It was mentioned how an unnamed club abroad plan to meet with Frosinone, meaning a move is not entirely out of the question.
But that would require Frosinone's asking price being met, plus the player wanting a move.
On the face of it, it seems the France-born winger is pretty content after being talked into staying at Frosinone by his manager.
"It's over. I had my ambition, but I spoke to the club and they presented me with their new ambition of becoming a major club," he said in an interview with Tutto Mercato Web.
"I'm happy to have stayed and signed a new contract. Now I want to do well.
"There are so many people who made me want to stay. I thank the coach, who spoke to me so much and always made the difference between the man and the player."
While not directly mentioning the reported bid from Rangers, plus other teams, Ghedjemis has made it clear he is happy where he is for now.
What would Ghedjemis have added to Rangers attack?
Rangers' numerous summer signings are now starting to properly click after a slow adaption period.
That said, another right-winger capable of chipping in with plenty of goal and assists would not have gone amiss.
Ghedjemis got 15 goals and three assists in Serie B last season - a tally that is clearly not sustainable in Serie A but is still a good indicator of what he is capable of.
But Rangers were never going to be breaking their transfer record to sign the Algeria international.
It may well be he is back on the market down the line, but any deal in the foreseeable future is far less likely now than it was a few months ago.
