What transfer business Derek McInnes wants next at Rangers after Olwethu Makhanya

Rangers are closing in on the signing of Olwethu Makhanya but their transfer business will not end there.

It has been an extremely busy summer of recruitment for the Gers, who have already made seven signings.

Ivor Pandur, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey, Dan Neil, Cammy Devlin, Vanja Dragojevic, and Lawrence Shankland are all through the door at Ibrox.

Philadelphia Union centre-back Makhanya, who represented South Africa at the World Cup, is expected through the door next.

But Derek McInnes still wants further reinforcements to strengthen his ranks at Ibrox before the close of the transfer window.

Now, his next priorities in the window have emerged as McInnes looks to have a squad capable of winning the Scottish Premiership.

Much of Rangers' focus thus far in the window has been about strengthening the spine of the team.

A lot of work has been done to add reinforcement in the centre of defence and central midfield.

But now there is a real focus on adding more quality and flair in the attacking areas of the pitch.

His departure to Anderlecht, while expected, does mean Rangers are looking even lighter in the wide areas.

As such, it is no surprise to see that the Daily Record is reporting that the next two priorities for McInnes are to sign wingers on either flank.

Right now, the Gers' primary options out wide are youngster Findlay Curtis and Djeidi Gassama, with Ross McCausland also back in contention after a spell with Aris Limassol.

There is a feeling, though, that Rangers need more options and creativity out wide before the end of the transfer window.

Shankland is a shrewd signing, but he will only thrive if the service into him is right, and there needs to be more options for that to happen.

A return for Vaclav Cerny would be a dream scenario for supporters, and there remains hope that a deal could be struck with Turkish outfit Besiktas this summer.

Coventry City winger Jahnoah Markelo and Brighton's Amario Cozier-Duberry are also reportedly on the radar at Ibrox.
