How much profit Rangers are making on Oliver Antman and where it must be spent

Rangers have officially signed off on their latest exit, with details now emerging on Oliver Antman's Ibrox departure.

Antman only arrived in Glasgow from Go Ahead Eagles in a £3.5million deal 12 months ago.

The 24-year-old became the most expensive sale in the Dutch side's history in the process.

However, after just one goal and three assists in the Scottish Premiership last season, he has already departed.

Rangers confirmed Antman's exit in a statement late on Wednesday evening.

And news regarding how much Rangers have earned on the winger has also now emerged.

Rangers do well to profit from Oliver Antman

Ibrox News carried reports earlier on Wednesday that Anderlecht had made a "shock" approach for Antman.

English Championship club Derby County also wanted to strike a deal, but Anderlecht won the race for his signature.

As per the Rangers Review on Wednesday, while the final fee is undisclosed, Rangers have made a small profit.

Anderlecht are paying north of £4m for the Finland international, so that is at least £500,000 coming in - and hopefully a bit more.

It is hardly a massive amount, but the Gers have done well to not lose any money on a player who struggled for most of last season.

Rangers' next move now becomes obvious

Then-sporting director Kevin Thelwell hailed Antman as an "exciting talent" upon his arrival last year.

After scoring eight goals and assisting 16 for Go Ahead Eagles the season prior, Thelwell was justified in those comments.

But Antman could not replicate those numbers at Ibrox and it is clear more quality is needed.

It leaves Rangers in even more need of a new winger - ideally before the season starts on Friday night.

Jahnoah Markelo and Amario Cozier-Duberry remain targets for Rangers, and ideally both will arrive.

Derek McInnes has been well backed this summer, offset by some departures - with more to follow - but wingers are now a must.

McInnes can only use what he has and, while Rangers' squad does look pretty strong, the one area of concern has only now become weaker.
